John Lucy was the first person I knew in Palo Alto after entering the last of 3rd grade at Addison. Knew him all through the school years and much later. Was not close in the later years, but sorry to see him go.

A terrific clarinet player! He could play a duet by himself. Always fun in the bands and orchestra. I hope he never gave it up.

I remember John as a fine musician, not only as a clarinetist, but also a fellow with excellent musical judgment in general. I was a dedicated classical pianist in those days, and I remember John making useful comments about my piano skills and playing--even though he was "only" a high school student at the time. Thanks, John!

John Lucy - a neighborhood kid I've known since early Addison days. We lived in the same neighborhood and he was always a great friend. Surprised and sad that he's gone.

John and I met at Jordan and remained good friends until his passing.  We played alot of tennis together and he kicked my butt.  He loved seeing my kids and  took many photographs of them.  His last couple of yrs were difficult, and with no family, I was happy to be his caretaker. He would have done the same for me.  I sold his house, pd his bills, got him to the dr..  set him up with living quarters and shared a lot of meals together. Somehow, he played great music almost to the end of his life.  He became quite ill Thanksgiving of 2012 and after 3 weeks at Stanford Hospital  he passed peaceably of a rare brain disease.  A very gentle soul and Nicki and I miss him.

I remember John so well from Addison days! He had the neatest hair of any kid I knew. Sory of auburn brown, always neatly parted, combed across the top of his head and then back across his ears. He had the best birthday party I ever went to (except for Nicky Robinson's, which is another story). He parents owned two story cedar shingle house with lots of trees on the property and we all played hide and seek until well after dark.

He had a sweet smile and was kind of shy in those days. I'm sorry that his life was so difficult at the end.
