Art was killed in Vietnam, not far from where I was stationed in 1970.  He was my center when I played quaterback on the JV team in 9th. grade. His younger sister now runs Gleim's Jewelry.

When called him Freddie in elementary school.  He was so gentle and kind. Our mothers shared the same maternity ward in the old Palo Alto hospital and continued their friendship until 1998 when mine died.  I will always remember Art on October 2nd. He died so young.

I'm so sorry about Arthur. (He will always be Arther to me.) I didn't know he was killed in Viet Nam. All this time I assumed he was running his father's jewelry store on University Avenue. What a shock. What a loss.

Art was cute in Jr. High. I loaned him "Please Don't Eat The Daisies" and he took me miniture golfing in Sunnyvale. Mr. Gleim drove. I still have a lovely sterling pin Art engraved and dated & gave to me for Christmas. He learned the "old way" of engraving and was proud to o the work by hand. It was very beautiful. He planned to be a master jeweler. I knew when he passed away. A sad time.
